Formerly the College of Bible Hygiene
In 2011, Times of Refreshing started the College of Bible Hygiene. It was begun without adequate housing for staff and students.
We decided to suspend the school until more property could be obtained and reopen the school at a later date as the Times of Refreshing Wellness Institute. We are presently working on improving our unique curriculum and may introduce some classes via correspondence. A SNEAK PREVIEW
The Times Of Refreshing Wellness Institute is a dynamic, true education institute of higher learning developed to showcase the exalted preeminence of Biblical health principles, making its missionary practitioners the head and not the tail of true medical science (See Deut. 28:13). The on-campus program offers medical missionary certification on several levels including a Doctor of Biblical Wellness. The goal of this school is to follow the principles of the blueprint originally given to Loma Linda.
We have included some of the school information below so that you can have a sneak preview of the vision that we have for a medical missionary training institute that teaches the highest level of of Biblical wellness training available.
BIBLICAL FOUNDATION:
The Bible commands us to “heal the sick” in the same context that it commands us to “preach the gospel,” (See Matt. 10:7,8 and Luke 9:1,2). Bible teaching is part of the healing experience, for the Bible declares that, “He sent His word and healed them.” Ps. 107:20. Healing, therefore, is not an option for a Christian in the last days of this earth’s history. If we understand the commission as given by the Savior, we will know that we are under a Divine mandate to preach and heal using Biblical methods that involve, invite and invoke the power of God. The healing work that we do, including the use of natural remedies, is a tenet of church belief and is founded upon scripture, including those scriptures pointing to inspiration given in the last days of this earth’s history. We are being disobedient if we reject or neglect it. While everyone is not called to full time medical ministry, there are thousands who should have the highest level of medical missionary education, to labor as medical evangelists, practicing Biblical wellness. These should be properly trained and qualified for such a ministry.
The italic quotations that follow reflect the inspirted vision that inspired the establishment of the Times of Refreshing Wellness Institute.
“It is for the training of such workers, as well as for the training of physicians, that the school at Loma Linda has been founded. In this school many workers are to be qualified with the ability of physicians, to labor, not in professional lines as physicians, but as medical missionary evangelists. This training is to be in harmony with the principles underlying true higher education. The cause is in need of hundreds of workers who have received a practical and thorough education in medical lines, and who are also prepared to labor from house to house as teachers, Bible workers, and colporteurs. Such students should come out of the school without having sacrificed the principles of health reform or their love for God and righteousness. {Counsels to Parents, Teacher, and Students p.471}
“In the work of the school maintain simplicity. No argument is so powerful as is success founded on simplicity. You may attain success in the education of students as medical missionaries without a medical school that can qualify physicians to compete with the physicians of the world. Let the students be given a practical education. The less dependent you are upon worldly methods of education, the better it will be for the students. Special instruction should be given in the art of treating the sick WITHOUT THE USE OF POISONOUS DRUGS and in harmony with the light that God has given. In the treatment of the sick, poisonous drugs need not be used. Students should come forth from the school without having sacrificed the principles of health reform or their love for God and righteousness. {Testimonies to the church, Vol. 9 p. 175}
Clear light has been given that OUR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS SHOULD BE CONNECTED WITH OUR SANITARIUMS WHEREVER THIS IS POSSIBLE. THE WORK OF THE TWO INSTITUTIONS IS TO BLEND. I AM THANKFUL THAT WE HAVE A SCHOOL AT LOMA LINDA. THE EDUCATIONAL talent of competent physicians is a necessity to the schools where medical missionary evangelists are to be trained for service. The students in the school are to be taught to be strict health reformers. The instruction given in regard to disease and its causes, and how to prevent disease, and the training given in the treatment of the sick, will prove an invaluable education, and one that the students in all our schools should have. The blending of our schools and sanitariums will prove an advantage in many ways. {Loma Linda Messages, p. 354,355}
The education that meets the world's standard is to be less and less valued by those who are seeking for efficiency in carrying the medical missionary work in connection with the work of the third angel's message. They are to be educated from the standpoint of conscience, and, as they conscientiously and faithfully follow right methods in their treatment of the sick, these methods will come to be recognized as preferable to the methods to which many have become accustomed, which demand the use of poisonous drugs. {9T 175.2}
There should be at our sanitariums intelligent men and women who can instruct in Christ's methods of ministry. Under the instruction of competent, consecrated teachers the youth may become partakers of the divine nature and learn how to escape the corruption that is in the world through lust. I have been instructed that we should have many more women who can deal especially with the diseases of women, many more lady Practitioners who will treat the sick in a simple way without the use of drugs. {9T 176.1}
…In Loma Linda we have an advantageous center for the carrying on of various missionary enterprises. We can see that it was in the providence of God that this sanitarium was placed in the possession of our people. We should appreciate Loma Linda as a place which the Lord foresaw we should need and which He gave us. There is a very precious work to be done in connection with the interests of the sanitarium and the school at Loma Linda, and this will be done, when we all work to that end, moving unitedly in God's order. {9T 176.3}
At Loma Linda many can be educated to work as missionaries in the cause of health and temperance. Teachers are to be prepared for many lines of work. Schools are to be established in places where as yet no efforts have been made. Missionaries are to go to other states where little work has been done. The work of promulgating the principles of health reform must be accomplished. God help us as a people to be wise. {9T 177.1}
I feel a deep interest that careful study shall be given to the needs of our institutions at Loma Linda and that right moves shall be made. In the carrying forward of the work at this place, men of talent and decided spirituality are needed. The best teachers are to be employed in the educational work, men and women who will walk circumspectly, depending wholly upon the Lord. If the teachers in medical lines will stand in their place in the fear of God, we shall see a good work done. With Christ as our educator we may reach a high standard in the knowledge of the true science of healing. {9T 177.2}
That which is of the most importance is that the students be taught how to represent aright the principles of health reform. Teach them to pursue this line of study faithfully, combined with other essential lines of education. The grace of Jesus Christ will give wisdom to all who follow the Lord's plan of true education. Let the students follow closely the example of the One who purchased the human race with the costly price of His own life. Let them appeal to the Saviour and depend upon Him as the One who heals all manner of diseases. The Lord would have the workers make special efforts to point the sick and suffering to the Great Physician who made the human body. {9T 177.3}
It is well that our training schools for Christian workers should be established near to our health institutions, that the students may be educated in the principles of healthful living. Institutions that send forth workers who are able to give a reason for their faith, and who have a faith which works by love and purifies the soul, are of great value. I have clear instruction that, wherever it is possible, schools should be established near to our sanitariums, that each institution may be a help and strength to the other. He who created man has an interest in those who suffer. He has directed in the establishment of our sanitariums and in the building up of our schools close to our sanitariums, that they may become efficient mediums in training men and women for the work of ministering to suffering humanity. {9T 178.1}
At the Times of Refreshing College of Biblical Hygiene, we are under conviction that the work of God needs schools of higher learning that can properly blend with life-style centers / wellness retreats (once referred to as sanitariums). These schools should teach the students the essentials of medical level physiology, pathology, hygiene and natural remedies from a biblical perspective. In addition, students should be taught present truth Bible topics, the ministry of healing, Biblical business principles, agriculture, healthy cooking and other life skills. The curriculum should be based upon church tenets founded in the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy and not on secular accreditation. The school should not resort to worldly methods such as treating the sick with drugs or with spiritualistic / mystical medicine. The school and health center should honor God in every way possible and God will honor the school, its staff, students and health center. “Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed [that] thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.” 1 Samuel 2:30.
For those who might be thinking, "We don't have time to start another school!"we believe the following:

AGAIN, THE VISION OF THIS SCHOOL IS CURRENTLY SUSPENDED DUE TO LACK OF HOUSING. WE NEED A LARGER PIECE OF PROPERTY AND ARE WORKING AND PRAYING TO THAT END!
